Stoneware Ginger Beer Flagon from Herne Bay, Kent.
1/8

This stoneware flagon was made for D. Whiddett’s Home Brewed Ginger Beer from Herne Bay, Kent. It has a cream coloured glaze on the main body and a traditional darker brown shade around the top. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, flagons like this were used to store and sell drinks such as ginger beer, ale, and cider. The printed text is contained within a crest design featuring an illustration of the Herne Bay clock tower, identifying D. Whiddett as the maker and linking the flagon to Herne Bay’s local brewing trade.
